Lesson: Why Were You Born?

Email: info@icogsfg.org

SCRIPTURE READING:

1 Corinthians 15:35-53.

GOLDEN TEXT: Genesis 1:26-27

Some very important questions that we should ask are: "Why were we born?" What is the purpose for man? Why were we put here on this earth?

The purpose of this Bible study is to look at some scriptures and see the magnitude of God’s great and wonderful purpose for your existence. You need to understand the fantastic future that God has in store for you!

1. God begins His revealed Word, the Bible, with: "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." (Genesis 1:1). The word "God" comes to us from the Hebrew word "Elohim," which means the Ever living, Eternal Creating, All Powerful, Governing KINGDOM. "Elohim" means one God ...not many gods. But that ONE GOD is a KINGDOM. Here is an illustration: There is but one true CHURCH ...one Church, but many members! (1 Corinthians 12:20). So it is with God. Here is another example: there is the mineral kingdom, the plant kingdom, the animal kingdom; and we might segregate it and designate the human kingdom, in this material world. Spiritually, there is the angel kingdom, and, high above all, the KINGDOM OF GOD. A human ...flesh and blood ...cannot enter into the Kingdom of God (John 3:3-6), but one BORN of God can!

2. The first chapter of Genesis reveals what God made in the first seven days of creation. Let’s focus in on the sixth day when God made man. Did God make the living creatures, cattle, the creeping thing, and the beasts "according to it’s kind?" (Genesis 1:24-25). Whose image did God make man in? (Genesis 1:26-27).

Note: God made man after His image, likeness and kind.

3. Is God composed of spirit? (John 4:24). Is man composed of matter? (Genesis 2:7). Is a man made of dust and when a man dies is his body sown in corruption? (1 Corinthians 15:35-49).

What does it take for man to pass from the physical, natural flesh and blood existence to the spiritual side of immortality to where he can inherit the kingdom of God? (1 Corinthians 15:50-53).

Note: The apostle Paul tells us that "flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God." He tells us it takes a mystery, a resurrection, where we will be changed, "in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. {53} For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality" (1 Corinthians 15:52-53 NKJV).

4. How is this resurrection made possible for man? Is it only through Jesus Christ that we can gain salvation and eternal life? (John 3:16, Acts 4:12, 1 Thessalonians 5:9).

5. Does God the Father want to be our Father and does He want sons and daughters? (2 Corinthians 6:16-18).

What must we possess to be the sons of God? (Romans 8:14-16).

Note: We must be led by God’s spirit to be the sons of God.

6. Is it God ‘s purpose to increase His Divine Family by having many more sons and daughters born into His Family? (Hebrews 2:10). Isn’t Jesus only the firstborn of many sons of God? (Romans 8:29).

7. Is it God’s "good pleasure" to give us the kingdom? (Luke 12:32). Is it God’s "good pleasure" to add to His Divine Family? (Ephesians 1:5).

Note: The word translated "adoption" here in this verse should more properly be translated as "sonship."

8. Does God want us to seek His kingdom first? (Matthew 6:33). Does God want us to picture His kingdom as a precious treasure and that we should be willing to give up everything to obtain it? (Matthew 13:44).

9. Has God the Father appointed Jesus Christ to be the heir of the entire universe? (Hebrews 1:2).

Note: The Moffatt translation renders "all things" in this verse as: "the universe."

Will Jesus Christ rule all the nations of the earth? (Psalms 2:7-9, Revelation 19:15).

10. Will Christ be responsible for the entire government of this world? (Isaiah 9:6). Will there be an end to the increase of His government of peace? (Isaiah 9:7). Will there be co-heirs with Christ to share this great inheritance and responsibility? (Romans 8:16-17, Revelation 2:26-27, 21:7).

Note: The converted saints who have been called by God will be joint-heirs with Jesus and will inherit everything. We were born to rule with Jesus Christ.

11. Does God want anyone to miss out on this wonderful opportunity of becoming a son or daughter of His Divine Family? (2 Peter 3:9).

Note: God wants all mankind to make it into His kingdom. He does not want anyone to perish. Yet there will be some people who will refuse to obey Him and they will perish because they have chosen the wrong way of life, the way of rebellion against God and that wrong way will end in death.

12. What is the wages of sin? (Romans 6:23). What will happen to those who live the way of sin and continue to break God’s Ten Commandments? (Matthew 13:24-30, Revelation 21:8).

Note: Those who do not repent of their sins will be destroyed by an all-consuming fire that will accompany the end of God’s plan of salvation.

In Conclusion: The PURPOSE of life is that in us God is really re-creating His own kind ...reproducing Himself after His own kind ...for we are, upon real conversion, actually begotten as sons (yet unborn) of GOD; then, through study of God's revelation in His Word, living by His every Word, constant prayer, daily experience with trials and testings, we grow spiritually more and more like God, until, at the time of the resurrection we then shall be instantaneously CHANGED from mortal into immortal ...we shall then be BORN of God ...WE SHALL THEN BE GOD!

Do you really grasp it? The PURPOSE of your being alive is that finally you will be BORN into the Kingdom of God, when you will actually BE GOD, even as Jesus was and is God, and His Father, a different Person, also is God!

Scriptures

Scripture Reading:  (1 Corinthians 15:35-53 NKJV) "But someone will say, "How are the dead raised up? And with what body do they come?" {36} Foolish one, what you sow is not made alive unless it dies. {37} And what you sow, you do not sow that body that shall be, but mere grain; perhaps wheat or some other grain. {38} But God gives it a body as He pleases, and to each seed its own body. {39} All flesh is not the same flesh, but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of animals, another of fish, and another of birds. {40} There are also celestial bodies and terrestrial bodies; but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. {41} There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from another star in glory. {42} So also is the resurrection of the dead. The body is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption. {43} It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power. {44} It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. {45} And so it is written, "The first man Adam became a living being." The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. {46} However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual. {47} The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from heaven. {48} As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly. {49} And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man. {50} Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption. {51} Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed; {52} in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. {53} For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality."

Golden Text:  (Genesis 1:26-27 NKJV) "Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." {27} So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them."

2. (Genesis 1:24-27 NKJV) "Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind"; and it was so. {25} And God made the beast of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. {26} Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." {27} So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them."

How then does it have tares?' {28} "He said to them, 'An enemy has done this.' The servants said to him, 'Do you want us then to go and gather them up?' {29} "But he said, 'No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. {30} 'Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, "First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn."'
